Youth Counselling Advice

What is counselling?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy which can be a source of support if you’re struggling with something. This often involves talking about your feelings, thoughts, and experiences which can help you to make sense of what’s going on in your life, and give you a safe place where you can talk about and understand your individual difficulties.

How do I access counselling?

If you haven't done so before, a good place to start is speaking to your GP. You can either phone our reception team to arrange this or use our eConsult system.

If you are over 18 years old you can refer yourself for psychological therpies without needing to speak to a doctor. For more information visit the NHS website (IAPT).

If you are 18 years old or under then you can self-refer to the Children & Young People Mental Health Services (CYPMHS).
