How do I check my test results?

Surgery Requested Tests

Any investigations requested by a GP or Practice Nurse will be returned to the surgery.

You will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice at the time of your test.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if you are advised to do so.

NHS App

The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services. Download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet or login via the NHS website.

Hospital Requested Tests

Any investigations requested by the hospital will be returned to the requesting healthcare professional, i.e. your consultant or specialist nurse. They should contact you to discuss these results. If you do not hear anything within the expected time frame, please contact the hospital secretaries.

How do I request a copy of my results?

You can request a copy of your test results from the surgery. Please note that we may not have access to investigations requested by other healthcare professionals, for example your hospital consultant or the A&E department.

Online Access

The easiest way to access your test results is online. This will allow you to check and monitor any results without needing to contact the surgery.

If you cannot see your test results straight away, don't worry, we may still be awaiting the full report, or the GP may still need to review them. Please allow at least one week from the date of any test, but it may take longer depending on the type of investigations you have had.
