If you need general advice an appointment may not always be necessary. Please telephone to speak to either our Practice Nurse or GP.
If you have a question for your doctor which requires an answer please do not write in. Make a routine appointment for either a telephone call or a face to face consultation.
It will take your doctor longer to respond by post.
These are available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability, and should be made between 8.00am and 10.30am to allow sufficient time for the doctors to travel after the morning clinic.
The doctor may telephone for more information and may request that you attend the surgery if that is deemed more appropriate. Lack of transport is not a reason to request a home visit.
Emergency visits will be dealt with at any time.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
Certificates (Ongoing sick certificates etc)
For the first 7 days of absence you can self-certificate, please see 'Appointments tab' for further details. After the first 7 days you will need to take advice from your doctor.
If you require a health form, insurance certificate or medical form completing by your doctor please leave them with the Receptionist.
There will be a charge for these services as they are not covered by the NHS.
Speak to your local pharmacist who will be able to advise you.

ARMS Travel Vaccinations
As you may know, Ivy Court Surgery, Hamstreet Surgery and Woodchurch Surgery have been working closely together for well over a year now on various projects such as the Weekend Urgent Care Service and the ‘Virtual Ward’ for the elderly and vulnerable.
You may also be aware that there have been difficulties with obtaining appointments with other private travel clinics in Ashford. This has caused significant problems for us in rural Ashford as travelling further than Ashford is inconvenient and not always possible. In some cases, it has meant our patients travelling 30 miles to obtain their travel vaccinations. We feel this is unacceptable.
Following complaints from patients in the cluster regarding the lack of a local travel service, the doctors and practice managers of our three surgeries have had several meetings to see if this service could be setup in our surgeries. We are delighted to announce the start of our own Travel Advice and Vaccination service as of the 5th November 2015. This we hope will be another valuable service to our patients, and will be provided through Ashford Rural Medical Services (through which the urgent care service and our other collaborative projects are delivered).
We are now working together with Charing Surgery to provide these services across the four sites.
As a specific travel advice service is not covered by the NHS, there will unfortunately be a fee for the service, which we hope you understand.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
It is your responsibility to telephone for your test results, please ring the surgery on 01233 730190 option 3 between 11am & 1pm only.
Women are now able to self-refer for maternity care electronically via the East Kent Hospitals website. www.ekhuft.nhs.uk/maternity
For the best care for women and their babies, we encourage them to self-refer as soon as possible so they can see a midwife and have early screening tests.
Seeing a midwife at an early stage will ensure women are given all the information that they need right from the start to help them make the right choices. There are routine screening tests that need to be carried out by the tenth week of pregnancy, so an early appointment with a midwife will enable them to discuss these tests and plan appropriately.
The form asks questions about the women, her family and her medical background.
When they are about 10 weeks pregnant, a midwife will either call or email the women to arrange a booking appointment, which usually takes place in the 10th or 11th week of pregnancy. At this appointment she will also receive details of the 12-week scan.
